The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try L.T. next Wednesday, March 13 in Lanzarote, a man accused of raping a minor after getting off a bus in Puerto del Carmen.
According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, the events date back to June 2022, around 9:00 p.m. at night. The accused was traveling on a bus where a minor passenger was also traveling.
After getting off public transport at the final stop, near the Biosfera shopping center in the coastal town, the man allegedly began to establish a conversation with the minor. Meanwhile, the teenager ignored him and kept walking.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, when they arrived at a more secluded place, the accused allegedly grabbed her by the shoulders and began to suck her neck and chin. After that, he allegedly penetrated her vaginally and anally.
The Public Ministry attributes to the accused the authorship of a crime of sexual abuse, as it was classified before the reform of the Organic Law 10/2022, known as the Only Yes is Yes Law where it would be classified as sexual assault. For this reason, he is asking for a ten-year prison sentence for him, with absolute disqualification as an accessory and payment of the costs of the trial.
In addition, he requests the imposition of supervised release for ten years, the prohibition of communicating with the victim by any means and of approaching her, her home, place of work or any place frequented at a distance of less than 500 meters, for 14 years.
Thus, the Prosecutor's Office asks that the accused compensate the victim in the amount of 30,000 euros for moral damages.
