The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands will present on June 16, in La Gomera, the Educational Excellence 2025-2026 Awards to eleven centers in the Canary Islands, recognitions that highlight the work carried out by public centers in the archipelago in key areas for the improvement of education.

One of the recognitions will be for the CEIP Guiguan of Mancha Blanca, in the section of Canarian Natural, Social and Cultural Heritage. The Ministry of Education highlights that "at the Guiguan, the Canary Islands are not only studied in books, but popular culture, traditions and heritage are part of the educational experience and accompany the students throughout the course".

It also highlights elements of the culture that are taken into account in the center, such as Canarian wrestling, the timple, or projects like Memoria Isleña, which bring children closer to the roots of the islands through practice and direct contact with their environment.

The event, which will be presided over by the head of the area in the regional Executive, Poli Suárez, will bring together representatives from the eleven recognized centers in this edition, from six islands. Their projects address areas as diverse as reading, mathematics, innovation, inclusion, equality, or Canarian heritage.

The rest of the recognitions will be for the Almirante Antequera Children's Education School (EEI), in Gran Canaria, for its work in promoting linguistic competence; the Los Quintana Children's and Primary Education Center (CEIP), also in Gran Canaria, for the development of mathematical competence; the CEIP Almácigo, in Tenerife, for its commitment to digital competence; the CEIP Los Tarahales, in Gran Canaria, for the promotion of multilingualism and intercultural education.

Likewise, the CEIP Cristóbal García Blairzy, in Fuerteventura, will receive this recognition in the category of equity, inclusion, and universal accessibility; the CEIP Puntagorda, in La Palma, for its educational innovation project; the CEIP San Sebastián, in Tenerife, and the Doramas Secondary Education Institute (IES), in Gran Canaria, both in the category of coeducation, equality, and affective-sexual education; the IES Benito Pérez Armas, in Tenerife, for the improvement of coexistence, well-being, and student protection; and the IES José Zerpa, in Gran Canaria, for its pedagogical leadership and participatory culture.

Beyond categories, all of them share the same vocation: to offer more opportunities to their students and to turn the school into a space connected with its environment and with the needs of the educational community.
