The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Youth, organizes two free drone piloting courses 'Open Category A1-A3' aimed at obtaining the title granted by the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA). Each course will have a maximum of 30 students and will be taught at the Youth Center during the eight Saturdays between September 10 and October 8.
Those interested in participating in these courses, which will be taught by the company Lanzadrones, must be of legal age, have a laptop and a certificate or electronic signature. To participate, you must register by sending an email to the company Lanzadrones providing your full name, date of birth and identity document number.
The mayor, Astrid Pérez, points out that with the organization of these courses "the Arrecife City Council wants to cover a growing demand, especially among young people who want to join the labor market, given that drone piloting has an increasing professional outlet as can be seen in the significant number of companies that ask for qualified people to carry out this work."
For her part, the Councilor for Youth, Elisabeth Merino, highlights "the importance" of the practical part of these courses consisting of the flight of drones by the instructors, "because it will allow students to acquire direct knowledge of the aspects of the flight" of this type of unmanned aircraft. In this sense, the Councilor for Youth emphasizes that "the City Council has processed in coordination with the César Manrique Airport the relevant permits to carry out the flights."
The syllabus of the courses will include the following sections: 'Registration as a drone operator', 'Preparation of the syllabus for obtaining the title 'Open Category A1-A3', 'General knowledge of flying with UAS', 'Operational procedures' and 'Professional opportunities with drones', 'A1-A3 Exam' and 'Demonstration of drone flight by the teachers'.
