The universities of Canary Islands offer a total of 24 work placement positions for people with disabilities, within the Fundación ONCE-Crue Spanish Universities Scholarship program, which aims to improve the professional career of university students with disabilities, by facilitating their access to a first work experience.
In its eleventh edition, the initiative is co-financed by the European Social Fund within the framework of the ESF+ Program for Social Inclusion, Child Guarantee and Fight against Poverty 2021-2027.
Of the 24 positions available in the Canary Islands, 14 are for the University of La Laguna and ten for the University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria.
The scholarships are endowed with an amount of 2,000 euros per student on placement, which the universities must allocate to the remuneration of the students, who receive up to a maximum of 600 euros per month for three months, and to the payment of social security and other management expenses.
The initiative will allow, as in previous years, that 316 students with disabilities enrolled in Spanish universities associated with Crue Spanish Universities and affiliated centers can carry out external internships.
University students have until November 30, 2026, or until the universities establish it in their internal processes, to submit their applications through the website of Fundación ONCE scholarships.
The internship period will be three months and may take place in large companies, SMEs, micro-enterprises, entities of the Social Economy and the third sector, as well as in other public or private institutions and entities.
Since the eleventh call for the Program will take place during the 2026/2027 academic year, the internship period may begin the day after the resolution approving the scholarship recipients and until December 31, 2027.
The collaboration between Fundación ONCE and Crue Spanish Universities, with the co-financing of the European Social Fund, aims to promote these internships, contribute financially to the cost of the program, and facilitate intermediation with companies, incentivizing them to hire people with disabilities, fostering new links between companies and universities, and better diversity management through inclusion.
University students who have a recognized disability equal to or greater than 33% and are enrolled in bachelor's or master's degrees (official or own) at a Spanish university, university foundation, or affiliated center may benefit from this internship program. Priority will be given to final-year students who have passed more than 50% of the bachelor's and/or master's credits for the corresponding university degree without having yet undertaken academic internships, according to the criteria of the university or affiliated center itself.
