The evolution of the Basalto Rules and Telamon Rules is not only measured in quantitative terms, which also, because from those beginnings a couple of years ago with 144 athletes, Puerto Calero managed to gather this September more than 500 athletes who left delighted with the organization, the competitive proposal and a sporting experience that Evelyn Toro, the visible head of the organizing team, describes as "more complete".
The events grow hand in hand with Yaiza, a municipality that now also positions itself as a benchmark in the celebration of strength and endurance competitions in the Canary Islands.
They are two modalities with their own identity that shared the same space to round off a great sporting event. The setup in the main parking lot of the Puerto Calero marina, the presence of the public and the enthusiasm and participation of athletes from all the Islands and the peninsula, consolidate this event which has the institutional support of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Yaiza City Council, the host administration represented by its mayor, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago.
The organization highlights the desire to compete and the camaraderie of the sports community and the invaluable collaboration of the volunteers and the team at the service of the Basalto and Telamon Rules. Basalto is a hybrid competition that combines running with strength and endurance stations, with simple and repetitive movements, where constant rhythm, aerobic capacity and strategy are paramount, while CrossFit brings together more varied and unpredictable tests, mixing weightlifting, gymnastics, strength, cardio and technical skills. Puerto Calero thus wove a collective success in the great cross-training festival of Lanzarote.
