Social media has become, for better or worse, a tourist showcase for corners all over the world, and tourism intelligence companies analyze mentions on social media to calculate the tourist interest they generate.

According to data from the tourism intelligence company Mabrian Technologies, which analyzes month by month the places in Lanzarote with the most mentions on Twitter and Instagram, and which have been published by the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segitur), the place with the most mentions on social networks last September was the sports center 'Club La Santa', which organized the cycling tour of the island with the support of the Cabildo Lanzarote Sports Destination and the seven town councils of the island.

The second place with the most mentions on Twitter and Instagram during the past month of September was ‘Famara’, while the third position was for ‘Puerto del Carmen’.

The 'Timanfaya National Park', which recently celebrated its 50th birthday, ranked fourth in the number of mentions on both networks combined, while Costa Teguise was the fifth most mentioned place on the island on the aforementioned social networks last month.

The sixth most mentioned Lanzarote location on social media in September was ‘El Golfo’, followed by ‘Playa Blanca’, in seventh position.

The ‘Ermita de los Dolores’ was the eighth most mentioned place on Twitter and Instagram during the past month of September, which is not surprising given that the pilgrimage is celebrated on the 15th of that month.

Completing the list are ‘Jameos del Agua’ in ninth position and 'Puerto Calero' in tenth place.
