The registration of new holiday homes has not ceased in Lanzarote. The island of volcanoes has already reached 11,094 tourist homes, despite the fact that the Canary Islands published the regulations governing them last December. Since their approval in the Parliament of the Canary Islands on November 12, 2025, and this January 13, 2026, the General Tourist Registry of holiday homes includes 237 more properties in Lanzarote, a growth of 2.2%. This means that since June 2023, they have grown by 113.4%.
The plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands approved last November, with the dissenting votes of PSOE, Nueva Canarias, and Vox, the new law regulating vacation rentals in the archipelago. The Canary Association of Vacation Rentals (ASCAV) opposed this regulation, stating that it "will mean the practical eradication" of vacation rentals in the Canary Islands.
Despite the fact that this law was announced at the beginning of the current legislature, in which Coalición Canaria, the Partido Popular, AHI, and ASG took over the government, the delay in its processing caused a pull effect: a 109% increase in vacation rentals on the island from June 2023 until its approval in November 2025.
By municipality, Yaiza has 3,104 vacation homes registered. Of these, 1,294 are located in the tourist town of Playa Blanca. Following the southern municipality, Tías is the second with the most homes for tourist use, a total of 2,973, of which 1,063 are in Puerto del Carmen. In third place, Teguise is the Lanzarote municipality with the most vacation homes, a total of 2,220 registered, with a total of 648 in Costa Teguise, 123 in Caleta de Famara, and 162 in Caleta de Sebo, in La Graciosa, among other towns.
In fourth place, there are 1,203 vacation rentals in **Arrecife**. In the municipality of **Haría**, 614 vacation homes are already registered, around 73 in Arrieta and 77 in Punta Mujeres, as well as in other villages. San Bartolomé follows, with 604. In this regard, the one with the fewest vacation rentals is **Tinajo**, which has 375 tourist homes
