The good performance of tourism in the archipelago is being noticed in the economic growth

The reactivation of the tourism sector in the Canary Islands is already a reality. In January alone, 760,000 international tourists entered the archipelago, 777.5% more than in the same month of 2021, according to EFE.

As a result, overnight stays have also experienced large increases. The data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reflect that 1.7 million overnight stays occurred, an increase of 510.6% compared to January of the previous year.

Apartments have become the preferred accommodation for visitors, with an occupancy rate of 66.5% in the first month of the year, the highest in the entire country.

All of this has led the islands to concentrate more than a third of the expenses of foreigners in Spain, specifically leaving 1.13 billion euros, 745.9% more in annual rate.
