The number of vacation homes in Lanzarote registered in the General Tourist Registry of the Canary Islands has grown by 84.85% from June 2023 to January 2025. This is according to the General Tourist Registry of the Canary Islands, which collects the daily updates of extra-hotel establishments of the vacation type on the island.
The announcement of the future Canary Island law, which seeks to regulate vacation rentals and complicate the requirements for new landlords, has generated a call effect and motivated the registration of thousands of homes for vacation rentals in the last 17 months.
Specifically, as of January 24, a total of 9,609 tourist rental homes are registered on the island of Lanzarote. This does not mean that all of them are currently being exploited, but that they have been registered, as required by law, in this registry.
Currently, the municipality of Yaiza has 2,735 registered vacation rentals; followed closely by the town of Tías, where there are 2,558 tourist homes; and then Teguise, with 1,928. In the capital of Lanzarote, 1,054 tourist homes have already been registered; meanwhile, in Haría there are 530; in San Bartolomé there are 504 registered homes; and in Tinajo, 299.
In addition to these data, there are vacation rentals on the island of La Graciosa, where this type of tourist exploitation is not allowed. According to figures from Canarias Datos Abiertos, the eighth island has 167 vacation rentals in the town of Caleta de Sebo.
