The users of the flight and hotel search engine jetcost.es have selected what they consider to be the 14 most original and secret beaches in Europe and surprisingly have included one of the beaches of Lanzarote with the highest density per square meter, Papagayo beach.

The search engine defines Papagayo beach as a "white sand cove, small dimensions and enormous beauty. In the shape of a shell, it seduces with its transparent emerald-colored waters that remain all day without waves, as if it were a swimming pool."

"Experts find it ideal for getting started in snorkeling and enjoying the richness of its seabed. Located in a hollow, which is accessed by a small path, it is sheltered from the wind and in an almost wild environment. It is located in the protected area of the Los Ajaches Natural Park," it continues.

In the list published by Jetcost there are another five beaches in Spain: Cala Macarella, in Menorca; Playa de Calahonda, in Malaga; Cala del Moraig, in Alicante; and Playa de las Catedrales, in Lugo.

In the rest of Europe they chose Elafonisi Beach, Crete (Greece); Cala Mariolu, Sardinia (Italy); Playa da Marinha and Playa dos Três Irmãos, Algarve (Portugal); Playa de Marina Grande, Positano, Campania (Italy); Fomm ir-Rih, Mgarr (Malta); Ölüdeniz Beach, Turkish Coast (Turkey); the bay of delle Zagare, Gargano, Puglia (Italy) and Zlatni Rat, Island of Brač (Croatia).
