Last January, a total of 28,749 German tourists arrived at Lanzarote airport, a figure of arrivals only behind those from the United Kingdom, which was 104,731, according to the Lanzarote Data Center based on figures from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) and FRONTUR-Canarias.

During 2022, a reduction in German tourism of 21% was recorded compared to pre-pandemic data, attributed to the caution of Germans in the face of the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and the associated high inflation rates.

This decrease in tourism from Germany in 2022 meant that national tourism occupied second place in number of arrivals at the end of 2022 and that the Irish market also registered more arrivals than German tourism.

The January data reflect a certain return to normality in a priority market for Sociedad de Promoción Exterior de Lanzarote, which recently attended the most important tourism fair in Germany to strengthen this market.

The January data also show that the Irish return to the third position in number of arrivals. A total of 25,949 tourists from Ireland landed on the island in January.

National tourism also returns to its traditional fourth place with 23,947 arrivals.

Next, travelers from France, who were 14,267 people, and from all of the Nordic countries, with 10,168 arrivals.

From the Netherlands, a total of 9,119 tourists landed on the island in January, followed by the Italians, with 8,746 arrivals.
