With the data from November, the month in which 127,330 cruise passengers arrived in Arrecife, 50% more than arrived in the same month last year, the capital of the island has just exceeded 500,000 arrivals on cruises, a historical record and an increase of 18% compared to last year.

The data almost doubles those recorded ten years ago. In 2014, in the same period of time, 284,174 cruise passengers had arrived.

The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, announced that it is very likely that, with the data from December, more than 600,000 cruise passengers will be exceeded.

The City Council of the capital considers that the figures will increase after the improvement of the port facilities. The cruise terminal in the port of Los Mármoles came into service in November, and the inauguration of the main terminal next to the cruise pier, in the Naos area, is scheduled for January.

Regarding the total traffic of the port, there has been an increase of 5.9% so far this year and a total of 1.7 million tons transported.

The Council also informs that it has held talks with the company United Waterways, the largest cruise operator in Europe, so that Lanzarote becomes part of its destinations.
