The public company Visocan announced this Monday, December 29, the tender for 200 social housing units in the Maneje neighborhood, in Arrecife. This was shared by the capital's mayor, Yonathan de León, on his Facebook profile.
The future homes will be distributed across three buildings and will be built on land ceded by the capital's City Council. Interested companies have until next summer to complete the projects.
Visocan anticipates, as confirmed to the mayor, that the tender for the construction of the homes will take place in autumn 2026. With these 200 new homes, a total of 401 will be built in Maneje (201 already under construction and to be delivered in autumn).
Yonathan de León has stated on his Facebook profile that "Arrecife is the only municipality in Lanzarote where we have public housing under construction on land ceded by the City Council".
"For there to be more housing, it is vital that city councils provide land, and in Arrecife we are setting a good example to meet the demands of many families. We will conclude this term in 2027 with nearly 500 public housing units in Arrecife after 30 years without public housing being built."
