The housing crisis that is shaking Spain has caused the mobilization of thousands of people across the country to demand a solution. The eviction of Maricarmen, an 87-year-old elderly woman with a disability in the Spanish capital, at the hands of a fund, has caused a wave of indignant reactions. In Lanzarote, the price of rental housing has registered record highs month after month. While the price of housing for sale has also not stopped growing. Currently, a house costs on average 103% more in Lanzarote than it did just ten years ago. Meanwhile, the minimum interprofessional wage has grown by 86.4% and the average wage much less, by 27%.

Tías, the most expensive municipality and Arrecife, where prices are growing the most
The most expensive municipality to buy a home in Lanzarote is Tías. In the town, the square meter already exceeds 4,200 euros, the highest value recorded to date, according to data from the real estate portal Idealista. Ten years ago, in August 2016, the cost was 112.7% lower.
After Tías, in Yaiza, the square meter costs 3,798 euros, 112% more than it cost just ten years ago. In third place, in the municipality of Teguise, a home already implies an average of 3,477 euros per square meter, 130.26% more than a decade ago.
In the case of San Bartolomé, housing now costs 3,184 euros per square meter, 130.6% more expensive than a decade ago. In Haría, a house is worth 3,086 euros per square meter, 134.8% more than it cost a year ago. Dividing the island, in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, the square meter costs 2,486 euros. The price growth in the capital has been the highest on the entire island and is now 170% more expensive than ten years ago.
Finally, in Tinajo, the square meter costs 1,884 euros, with data from May, the most recent published by the same portal, while ten years ago the value was 1,129 euros, 66.8% more.
