Renting an apartment in Arrecife is 30% more expensive than a year ago

In stark contrast, prices for buying a home in the capital only increased by 3.5%.

Housing rental prices in Arrecife increased by 30.8% between January and December 2022, according to the price report from Idealista.com

If renting an apartment of 70 square meters in the capital of the island cost an average of 546 euros in January 2022, in December, the same apartment already cost 700 euros. 

The prices of rentals of housing in Arrecife, accumulate eight consecutive months of increases and again reach historical maximums by being located on average at 10 euros per square meter in December. 

At the beginning of 2022, the rental price per square meter in the capital was 7.8 euros. 

In contrast, prices to buy a home in Arrecife grew much more slowly. Between January and December 2022, the price per square meter increased by 3.5%. If at the beginning of 2022 the square meter was at 1,323 euros per square meter, at the end of the year it cost 1,370. 

Therefore, if acquiring an apartment of 70 square meters cost on average 92,610 euros in January, in December it would have cost 95,900 euros.
