How many fewer holiday homes does Lanzarote have compared to a year ago?

Discover how many have stopped being offered in each municipality of Lanzarote. Where they fall the most is in Tinajo and Haría, while where they are reduced the least is in Arrecife and Teguise

The number of vacation homes in Lanzarote offered on digital platforms has decreased by 12.8% in one year, more than 1,000 homes, going from 7,809 tourist use homes in July 2025 to a total of 6,806 vacation homes last month, according to data provided by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC). 

In the Canary Islands as a whole, the drop is 15%, going from 46,635 properties in July of last year to a total of 39,678 in the seventh month of this year. Thus, there are 6,957 fewer vacation homes in the Canary Islands. 

Despite the drop in vacation homes in Lanzarote, the set of those that remain active raised 21.4 million euros in July, four million less than what they raised when there were 1,000 more a year ago. 

The majority of the vacation homes that remain active are in Tenerife, which accounts for 41% of all those offered in the archipelago.

Gran Canaria (21%), Lanzarote (17%), and Fuerteventura (14%) follow.

Last July, 37,897 homes received at least one reservation, which represents 95.5% of the total homes available on the analyzed digital platforms. 

 

Data for each municipality in Lanzarote

By municipalities, Arrecife had 454 vacation homes available last July, compared to 500 registered in July 2025. This represents a reduction of 46 properties, equivalent to a decrease of 9.2%.

In the municipality of Haría, a total of 467 vacation homes were offered in July of this year, while in the same month of 2025 there were 540 units. The figure reflects a drop of 73 homes, a percentage decrease of 13.5%.

Meanwhile, in San Bartolomé there were 326 vacation homes available in July, 42 fewer than a year ago, which translates to a decrease of 11.41%.

Regarding Teguise, 1,460 vacation homes were counted last month compared to 1,622 counted in July 2025. This is 162 fewer accommodations, representing a drop of 9.99%.

For its part, Tías registered 1,856 vacation homes available in July of this year, reducing the figure of 2,130 properties it offered in July 2025 by 274 vacation homes, corresponding to a decrease of 12.86%.

Tinajo had 224 vacation homes in July of this year, compared to 275 operational in the same period of the previous year. This represents 51 fewer units, an 18.55%.

In the case of Yaiza a total of 2,019 holiday homes were offered in July compared to the 2,374 offered in July 2025. The absolute difference stands at 355 fewer accommodations, registering a decrease of 14.95%.
