Cabildo and Arrecife plan to approve the catalog to protect the architectural heritage of the capital

The objective of the two institutions is the initial approval of the Municipal Architectural Catalog document for the Protection of Real Estate.

The Councilor for Historical Heritage of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo, together with the Councilor for Technical Office, Urban Planning and Urban Discipline of the Arrecife City Council, Maciot Cabrera, participated in the first face-to-face meeting with Gesplan technicians to finalize the proposal of the Municipal Architectural Catalog for the Protection of Real Estate.

This is the beginning of a series of meetings in which the details and fundamental aspects will be addressed to consolidate this proposal of vital importance for the preservation of Arrecife's heritage.

Thus, the island's head of Historical Heritage has reaffirmed her commitment to carry out an initiative "that will allow strengthening the historical legacy and cultural identity of the island's capital and protect the urban heritage." In the same vein and ratifying this commitment, the capital's consistory will work in close collaboration with all the entities involved in this important project.

"In the coming months, our goal is to bring the Municipal Catalog document to initial approval, taking a firm step towards the protection and enhancement of our historical and cultural heritage," said Maciot Cabrera.

Similarly, as it was advanced in the aforementioned meeting, informative talks will be organized aimed at the owners of properties that will be included in the aforementioned Catalog, "in order to inform them and promote the rehabilitation of the architectural heritage of Arrecife".

It is also important to point out, as Cabrera informs, that "the City Council is working on the design of a new line of subsidies for the owners of listed buildings, as a stimulus measure for their conservation and restoration, and that the possibility of applying bonuses on some municipal taxes for these properties is being evaluated".
