The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, presented this Thursday the program of the II Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries Fair of Lanzarote. The event will take place between March 23 and 23 at the Agrotechnological Center of the municipality.
Betancort thanked the media on the island for their presence and coverage and invited all citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa to support this commitment to make the sector visible, "the only one that did not rest during the pandemic crisis and that needs a firm and serious commitment to emerge strengthened as a priority sector for our island."
Teguise and the Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Associations (FASAT), which represent people and groups that are dedicated to activities that obtain goods from the natural environment, have joined together again "to demonstrate that the survival of the livestock, fishing and agricultural sector is the survival of our society," the council stressed in a statement.
"This fair aims to exceed the success of visitor turnout from the previous year and once again be a meeting point and a worthy showcase for the primary sector on the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa," Betancort said during the presentation.
"As mayor of Teguise, I have been taking the pulse of a very important sector for the island's economy for years," began the mayor of Teguise and acknowledged the work of this sector "that did not stop" during the pandemic. At the same time, he pointed out that "he is looking forward to the Cabildo of Lanzarote taking the reins of the Island Plan for Territorial Planning, which will solve the lack of water supply and improve infrastructure and services."
"In these days I have held several meetings with the different representatives, in which I have conveyed my most sincere commitment and my healthy hope that Lanzarote will begin to be governed from the countryside to the city," added Betancort, candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
