Bodegas Martinón has been awarded a Gold medal for its Martinón Blanco 2025 at the 10th edition of the National Competition of Wines from Small D.O.s, organized by the association Pequeñas D.O.s and whose final phase was held on July 3rd at the Recinto Madrazo in Madrid.

The jury of this competition has granted a total of 26 awards, 17 of which went to Canarian productions, representing 65.38% of the total recognitions.

The productions from the Islands obtained five grand gold medals (out of the six awarded in total) and 12 gold medals. Furthermore, the DOP El Hierro was the designation with the highest number of recognitions in the entire event, a total of seven, followed by the DOP Tacoronte-Acentejo, with four. The DOP Islas Canarias and Abona obtained two awards and, finally, the DOP La Gomera and Lanzarote each received one award.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, valued these results as "a collective success for the Canarian wine sector and a demonstration of the level reached by our productions," by obtaining nearly two-thirds of the awards granted. "This recognition confirms that Canary Islands competes based on quality, uniqueness, and authenticity," he stated.

Quintero emphasized that these recognitions "reinforce the prestige of the Archipelago's designations of origin and contribute to greater visibility for a unique wine-growing model, built on traditional varieties, volcanic soils, unique agricultural landscapes, and a way of producing closely linked to the territory."

Specifically, he highlighted the participation of Baboso Blanco Viña Frontera 2024, from Sociedad Cooperativa del Campo Frontera (DOP El Hierro) in the category of unoaked white wines, and El Ancón Tinto Joven 2025, from Bodegas Insulares Tenerife (DOP Islas Canarias) in the category of young red wines, which achieved the highest score in the competition, a total of 95 points, in addition to a grand gold medal.

On the other hand, in the category of unaged white wines, in addition to the wine from Bodegas Martinón, Pagos de Reverón Malvasía Aromática 2025 and Pagos de Reverón Blanco Seco Ecológico 2025, both from Bodegas Reverón (DOP Abona); Vino de Uwe Blanco 2024, from Uwe Urbach (DOP El Hierro); Bodega Padrón Blanco Seco 2025, from Bodega Carlos Padrón Armas (DOP El Hierro); and Cornicales Blanco 2025, made by José Roberto Padrón Castañeda (DOP El Hierro), won a gold medal.
