El Puerto restaurant, located in Arrecife, has become the winner of the first edition of the Paseo del Enyesque Ciudad de Arrecife. The City Council of the capital launched, within the intense program for the celebration of the Canary Islands Week, a gastronomic route where the participating establishments will offer tapas or dishes with a Canarian theme.
Between May 30 (Canary Islands Day holiday) and Saturday, June 1, the Arrecife City Council's Department of Tourism and Commerce created the Paseo entre enyesques Ciudad de Arrecife. The contest allowed the participating establishments to be awarded for their culinary creations with products from the Islands.
The customers of these establishments awarded the best tapas with their scores, and accessed, as prizes, several special tickets for the two major concerts to be held in Arrecife, as the epicenter of music and entertainment in the months of June and July.
For the people who came to these gastronomic establishments, the city council opened a call in which the establishments that wished to participate had to score through an application the dishes or tapas that were presented to the contest, with a Canarian theme.
Lilium, Strava Vermutería, Bar La Tentación, Café Gernika Flores, La Tasca Ibérica, La Tasca La Raspa, Mi Niña Café, Gambrinus, El Puerto and Bar La Salida, registered in this contest promoted by the Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Tourism and Commerce. The restaurateurs offered specific tapas or dishes with a Canarian theme, and made with some of the products of the Canary Islands.
According to the established rules, published in the electronic headquarters of the Arrecife City Council, the Department, and with the highest score received, the creation of the El Puerto restaurant, in the area near the Charco de San Ginés, won the prize. Their culinary creation of millet toast filled with smoked peto, finished with tomato chutney, avocado and wasabi emulsion, and soy-cured egg yolk, achieved the highest score among the 10 culinary proposals submitted to the contest. In addition, recently, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, visited the establishment and presented the municipal award.
