Yaiza has twice as many employees in hospitality as the average for Lanzarote

Tías and Teguise also exceed the island's average, while San Bartolomé is the municipality with the highest proportion of commerce in its labor market

The hospitality sector concentrates 33.1% of jobs in Lanzarote, according to data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) published by the Canary Islands Employment Observatory (Obecan) in its latest report 'Diagnosis of the Local Labor Market in Lanzarote.

However, in tourist municipalities the percentage rises considerably. In Yaiza it is equivalent to 65.9% of the workers, while in Tías it is equivalent to 52.1% and in Teguise to 46.8%.

In contrast, the rest of the services, excluding hospitality and commerce, is the majority labor sector in the municipalities of Arrecife (52.02%), San Bartolomé (47.66%) and Haría (40.19%).

According to the Obecan report, the greatest weight of commerce, which for Lanzarote is equivalent to 16.9% of employment, is found in
San Bartolomé, where it represents 27.1% of the municipality's workers, followed by Arrecife, where it reaches 22.9% of employment.

For its part, the construction sector concentrates 6.95% of the weight of employment on the island, while industry accounts for 3.4% and agriculture barely exceeds 1%.
