The construction sector in Lanzarote shows its current dynamism also in the figures of unemployed people registered in the public employment services. In July of this year, 813 people were counted looking for work in this sector on the island compared to 951 job seekers in July 2019, which represents a decrease of 14%. If we compare the data with July of last year, the decrease is 30%.

In absolute numbers, Arrecife accounts for the bulk of the decrease in the number of unemployed in the construction sector. In the capital, the number of people looking for employment in this sector has gone from 630 in July 2019 to only 513 in July of this year, almost 20% less.

The municipalities of San Bartolomé, Yaiza and Tinajo, even with much smaller figures, experience sharp drops in percentage points of 24%, 22% and 16% respectively. In Haría, Tías and Teguise, however, the numbers are very similar to those of 2019.
