The month of March closed with a total of 70,241 affiliations to Social Security in Lanzarote. Never before has the island had such a high number of contributors. The figure represents a growth of 7.4% with respect to March of last year, when 65,985 affiliations were recorded.
The economic sectors that contributed the most were hospitality, where 21,414 contributors were reached, and commerce, with 12,174 affiliates to the Public Institute.
By municipalities, Arrecife reached 28,486 contributors, which represent just over 40% of the total. With 10,513 affiliations, Teguise occupies second place, followed by San Bartolomé, where 8,920 contributors were recorded.
Next is Tías, where the number of contributors is very close to exceeding 9,000 people. Also in Yaiza they are about to overcome the barrier, in this case, of 8,000 contributors to the National Institute of Social Security.
At the national level, the number of people affiliated with Social Security increased by 151,943 people in March in seasonally adjusted terms and reaches 20.5 million (20,532,371).
The growth of employment in March throughout Spain has been exceptional and closes a quarter in which 291,477 employed people have been added, which represents the largest historical increase in the first quarter of the year.
