The Management of the Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, held this Monday, June 1, the event of tribute and recognition to the 94 professionals who retired during 2024 and 2025.
The event took place in the assembly hall of the Insular Council and was attended by the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, and the manager of the Health Services, Pablo Eguia, along with the management teams and colleagues and families of the honored individuals.
The 94 retired professionals who received this recognition belong to different professional categories, including Nursing, Medicine, Orderly, Laundry, Kitchen, Midwife, and technical and management staff, both from Primary Care and Specialized Care. All of them received the affection of the management team and their colleagues in a very emotional gathering.
During the event, the manager, Pablo Eguia, recalled that each and every one of these professionals has played a relevant role in the health activity of our hospitals and health centers and thanked them for their commitment and dedication during their years of work, which have undoubtedly contributed to making the organization a more experienced and prepared institution to continue caring for the community.
For his part, the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, encouraged them to enjoy this new stage, facing it with new projects, the satisfaction of a duty fulfilled, and the pride of having served the public health system of Lanzarote with excellence.
Likewise, Gertrudis Tejera, an administrator from the Valterra Health Center; Dolores Alcaraz, a physician from the Titerroy Health Center; and Carmen García, a Nursing Assistant from the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, were in charge of delivering a few words on behalf of the honored individuals. During their speeches, they highlighted the enthusiasm and responsibility with which they carried out their work and recounted their professional careers, marked by numerous experiences, anecdotes, and notable moments that they recalled with emotion and nostalgia. They also shared how they are facing this new stage of retirement.
During the meeting, a gift was presented, along with a diploma in recognition of their years of service and the identification card as workers of the Canary Islands Health Service, which they received to the applause of colleagues, family members, and attendees.
The event featured a musical performance by two professionals from the Management, Alejandro Cabrera and Sheila Blanco, who gifted their songs to all attendees of the tribute.
