Hiring in the hotel industry has increased by 238.9% in the Canary Islands in the first semester, making it the autonomous community that is experiencing the greatest growth, according to a study carried out by Randstad. By provinces, the two in the Canary Islands also stand out, so that in Las Palmas hiring grew by 248.6% between January and June; while in Santa Cruz de Tenerife the increase was 228.7%.
In the country as a whole, the hotel industry generated 1,625,227 contracts in the first semester of the year, which represents an increase of 69.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. In addition, the summer campaign is expected to create around 500,000 contracts in the commerce, transport, tourism, hotel and entertainment sectors.
Between January and June 2021, 960,984 contracts were signed in this sector, 4.2% more than in 2020, during the pandemic, when the hotel industry registered a 58.7% collapse in hiring.
