Canary Islands will receive 16 million euros more than last year for employment policies

The archipelago will have 146 million euros from the Ministry of Labor and 22 million more from the recovery funds

The Canary archipelago will receive 146,208,602 euros from the distribution of funds from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy for active employment policies, 16 million more than in the previous year, according to publishes the news portal of the Government of the Canary Islands.

This budget distribution, approved yesterday at the meeting of the Sectoral Conference on Employment and Labor Affairs, will distribute a total of 2,415 million euros among the Autonomous Communities and may be complemented with other lines of financing, such as the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands, where 40 million euros will be allocated to training.

Specifically, the same amount will be dedicated to employment projects and the largest item, of 41 million euros, will be used to finance mixed employment and training programs. Likewise, the budget from the Ministry of Labor is completed with 18 million for the Social Economy and self-employment and another 7.4 million euros for the professional guidance of all people who need it.

In this sense, the Minister of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Elena Máñez, wanted to value the annuity of the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) this year, where the Canary Islands will receive more than 22 million euros.

This program is added to the training and employment policies and allows "to direct efforts" to digitization and entrepreneurship programs, as well as to specific groups such as young people, who have the highest unemployment rate of all age groups, or women in vulnerable situations.

“We have launched for the first time a specific program for the training and hiring of women victims of trafficking and, together, with the MRR funds we will help more than 17,000 people through the 8 training and employment programs they contain”, says Máñez.

To this amount is added about 4,000 actions to promote new territorial projects for rebalancing and equity, with the aim of stimulating entrepreneurship and the creation of new micro-enterprises.
