What activities to do during the Lanzarote Carnival 2023

If you have never been to the Canary Islands during carnivals, we recommend you go as soon as possible. The city is filled with people wanting to have a good time and an incredible atmosphere.

The activities you can do in Lanzarote during its carnival are many. In fact, you can enjoy the party while visiting the island and all its charms. Some things to see in Lanzarote are La Cueva de los Verdes, the Timanfaya National Park or bathe in Caletón Blanco beach.

Returning to the Lanzarote Carnival and its activities, everything begins with the Proclamation, and from this moment on, the fun begins.

You can find activities of all kinds. From parades, parades full of costumes, floats and batucadas that encourage both those who participate, and those who see it from outside. There are also costume contests, exhibitions of Comparsas and Murgas, festivals, and other cultural events organized by each locality.

And, finally, to end the Carnival, "The Burial of the Sardine" is celebrated.

Everything ends, and to end the carnival, this ritual is celebrated. It is a parade of mourning and sadness that runs along the Maritime Avenue of Arrecife, and this symbolizes that the purifying fire ends with the vices, debauchery and feelings of liberation that occur during the party. This symbolizes the fact of leaving the party behind and giving way, again, to normal life.
