This August, a total of 295 passenger cars and SUVs were registered in Lanzarote, 30% less than in the same period last year when there were 422.

"There are still component problems and in the coming months we are going to notice an even more suffocating lack of stock for the sector, which makes it difficult to make forecasts," explained the president of the Canary Islands dealership association, Manuel Sánchez.

However, the data is better than that recorded in August 2019 when there were only 259 car registrations in Lanzarote.

Sales grow among individuals, but fall among rental companies

Of the 295 vehicles registered this August on the island, 148 were destined for car rental companies, which represents a decrease of 51.95% compared to the same period last year.

A total of 124 vehicles were registered by individuals, 40.9% more than in August 2021.

Finally, there were 23 company registrations, which represents a decrease of 11.5% compared to the same month last year.

Lanzarote's data is very different from that recorded at the regional level. This August, 3,541 passenger cars and SUVs were registered in the Canary Islands, 14% more than in August 2021 and 23% less than in August 2019.
