One of the lowest incomes per inhabitant in the Canary Islands

According to these same data, the average net income per person in Lanzarote stood at 1,228 euros per month in 2022, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. Although this increase is greater than that of the Canary Islands average in the same period, which was 8%, the island of volcanoes continues to have one of the lowest incomes in the autonomous community. This is shown by the figures broken down by islands of the Lanzarote Data Center, based on data from the National Institute of Statistics.

In 2022, only Fuerteventura (11,629 net euros per year), El Hierro (12,125 euros) and Tenerife (12,173 euros) had worse incomes than the population of Lanzarote (12,718 euros).

Households, the third with the highest income

In contrast, the data improves if what is analyzed is the average income per household, where the conejeros households are in the third highest position in the autonomous community, with 34,120 euros. Only La Palma (34,485) and Gran Canaria (34,386) are ahead, according to the forecast published by the Lanzarote Data Center.

Although the average income continues to rise in the Canary Islands, which is considerably influenced by the increases in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage, it is still one of the lowest in the country. In 2023, the Canary Islands had an average income per household of 31,296 euros, only behind Murcia (30,509), Extremadura (27,051), Castilla-La Mancha (29,965) and Andalusia (29,916).

In addition, in the province of Las Palmas, 17.3% of the inhabitants receive very low incomes, below 9,813 net euros per year, that is, 817.75 euros in twelve months.
