The 110 students who are already receiving training at the Microsystems Higher School of Cooking and Restoration can now carry out non-employment professional practices in one of the fifty or so companies with which the center's management has signed practice agreements. As the head of the center, Beatriz Salazar, assures, "the educational model has to be as close as possible to the reality of the company, that's why it is essential that the training takes place in a real work environment. The basis is that the student develops the professional skills of the capacities acquired in the training center".
The professional certifications that are currently being taught (official qualification of Cooking, basic and higher level, Catering qualification, Waiter/Bar qualification and Restaurant qualification), "make more sense when complemented with hiring commitments by the companies where the practices are being carried out", they say from the center. And it is that the students "are having such a good reception that several businessmen have already expressed their willingness to hire them at the end of their studies".
Likewise, many companies have observed that for the first time the student studies to work in hospitality, trains and becomes professional, while in the past he dropped out of studies to go to this sector. In that sense, the hospitality sector has very positively valued the existence of this new School as "a relevant training alternative".
Since one of the objectives of the Higher School of Cooking and Restoration of Lanzarote is to increase the capacity to respond to the demands of companies and improve the training offer of the service, this Wednesday there has been a new official visit of businessmen associated with AETUR, linked to the hospitality sector. Specifically, the restaurants La Tegala, AguaViva, La Cañada, Mar Azul, Charco Viejo, La Marisma, La Bodega de Santiago, La Cantina Mexicana, La Cascada del Puerto, La Perla del Atlántico, Columbus and Río Azul; as well as the bar J.A. Verdi, the Divino Doblón and the cafeteria Sol.
