The Lanzarote Rent a Car Association (ASERENT) held its Ordinary General Assembly this Thursday, in which the main challenges facing the sector were addressed. Among them, the implementation of the controversial Royal Decree 933/2021 on the registration of travelers, which has posed a considerable challenge for companies, as it requires a technological and operational adaptation to comply with the requirements of collecting and managing personal data of customers. In addition, the problem of intrusion and unfair competition, which continues to harm companies that operate legitimately, as well as other issues related to the different municipalities and the operation of the association, was discussed.

The meeting served to reaffirm ASERENT's commitment to the continuous improvement of the sector and the defense of the interests of its members in a competitive and constantly evolving environment. Currently, the Lanzarote Rent a Car Association is made up of 14 car rental companies without a driver on the island: Autos Anthon, Autos Borges, Autos Cabrera Medina, Autos Cicar, Autos Famara, Autos Guayre, Autos Martina, Autos Plus Car, Autos Solyplaya, Conylanza Car, Gobycar, Jaira Rent a Car, Payless Car and Elisabeth Rent a Car.

“The Assembly has been fundamental to lay the foundations for a year in which we must face important legislative changes and consolidate our commitment to excellence in service, highlighting the effort and work that our companies carry out to be increasingly sustainable by incorporating more efficient and less polluting vehicles. We appreciate the participation of all attendees and their continued support to our Association,” said the president of ASERENT, Luis Hernández.

The Lanzarote Rent a Car Association is one of the eleven associations that are part of the Lanzarote Tourist Federation (FTL) and the meeting was attended by Alicia Ramos, coordinator of the Technical Area and Susana Pérez its president, who presented the main strategic lines in which the FTL works, underlining the importance of the collaboration of companies and associations to face the new challenges.

After the assembly, the attendees enjoyed a fraternal lunch, to which former members and representatives of the Association were invited, as well as the president of the Professional Business Association of Car Rental of the Canary Islands (APECA), César Martín, and the president of the Metal Federation (FEMETE) of the province of Tenerife, Juan Antonio Jimenez. The Lanzarote Rent a Car Association is a pioneer in the sector in the Canary Islands, soon to celebrate its 50th anniversary, “we try to strengthen its foundations by associating and collaborating with other associations and federations in the sector, both regionally and nationally,” says Luis Hernández.
