The Government of the Canary Islands has added to this year's campaign a specific aid valued at 83,151 euros for the productive area dedicated to the cultivation of aloe vera and olive trees, hand in hand with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.

In addition, the call for the Community Program to Support Agricultural Production in the Canary Islands (POSEI) establishes a maximum unit amount of 500 euros per hectare and adds that producers who own farms located in the archipelago may be eligible for these funds.

The main objective of this call is to support productions oriented to the domestic market, especially adapted to the arid zones of the Canary Islands, thus contributing to the diversification of regional agriculture and the maintenance of soils to avoid desertification.

"The reinforcement and importance of the entrepreneurship of aloe vera and olive farms, which encourages the islands to increase their self-sufficiency for less dependence on foreign products," highlights the general director of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Augusto Hernández. "In this way, producers will see their work reflected in the consolidation of the primary sector and its economy," he adds.

A supplement of 10% of the aid will also be paid on the amounts that may correspond to beneficiaries who have received aid for the installation of young farmers from the Rural Development Program (RDP) in the campaign in question or in any of the previous four and who maintain this condition in 2022.

Applications for aid can be submitted electronically until May 8, the day the deadline expires.
