Francisco Martínez, president of the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), has confirmed that his organization will offer support and advice to the small and medium-sized companies on the island that want to apply to receive aid from the European Union, destined for economic reactivation in the Canary Islands.

The subsidies foresee a maximum of 60,000 euros to cover up to 45% of the investments made during 2022. Small and medium-sized companies in the Canary Islands will be able to obtain 35% of the total of their investment during the past year, an amount that increases to 42% in the case of companies located in Lanzarote.

In the event that the company is run by a woman or a person with a disability, the aid can reach 45% of the investment. To qualify for the aid, it is necessary to have undertaken a minimum investment project of 10,000 euros.

The aid is charged to the aid fund for recovery for cohesion and the territories of Europe (REACTEU), 100% financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The objective of these aids is the economic reactivation of SMEs in the Canary Islands by supporting the creation of new companies and the consolidation of existing ones, through projects aimed at making productive, innovative and organizational improvements, as part of the European Union's response to the consequences of the pandemic.

The term to carry out the activity and to consider the eligible expenses will be computed from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022.

The total amount of the investment reaches 10.5 million euros, with the possibility of receiving a maximum of 60,000 per SME. Applications must be made through the Electronic Headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands until May 4.
