Last year, the Barceló group took control of 100% of Ávoris, a company in which Globalia previously owned 49.5%, and launched an ambitious expansion plan for its retail division with which it has managed to control a third of all travel agency offices in Spain, according to the tourism news portal Preferente.com.
According to this media, in addition to the agreement signed with Viajes Carrefour, which has approximately 400 agencies, Ávoris has entered in recent months into two of the most powerful management groups in the Spanish market, such as Dit Gestión (about 800 points of sale) and Gea (approximately 500 offices).
All of this means that between April and July, Ávoris has reinforced its network of agencies with an approximate figure of 1,700 offices that have been added to the approximately 1,300 that B the travel brand, Halcón Viajes and Viajes Ecuador have, the three reference brands owned by the Barceló company after the purchase from Globalia.
Therefore, Ávoris has a total of 3,000 points of sale in the Spanish market, including owned agencies, franchises, strategic alliances and preferential agreements.
Considering that the sector is currently made up of about 9,000 points of sale in Spain, the group led by Juan Carlos González has managed to gain an overwhelming market share so far this year, approximately one third.
