This Monday, July 28, the newly created Lanzarote Association of Street Vendors (ALVA) has been presented, whose main objective is to "create a solid community that can face the challenges of the sector and build a more prosperous and secure future for all street vendors in Lanzarote."

The association, which already has more than one hundred members, seeks to establish a constructive dialogue with the Public Administrations to "promote the regulation and recognition of street vending as a professional activity."

ALVA also wants to "encourage the creation of a community of street vendors who share knowledge, experiences and resources", as well as "strengthen their position in public and private markets."

From the Association, they explain that ALVA arises to "respond to the challenges and problems we face in the Teguise municipal market, given the need to regenerate transparency and efficiency in the application of the rules and regulations."

"We want to achieve greater equity in our working and safety conditions. Street vending is a legitimate and professional economic activity that requires skill, dedication and effort," they add.

"We would like to ensure that the preservation of tradition and the incorporation of modern and technological elements can coexist to improve efficiency and the customer experience" in the Lanzarote street markets.

ALVA also wants to contribute to the implementation of "sustainable practices that benefit the environment and the community."
