The Union of Air Traffic Controllers (USCA) and the company that manages the control tower of the Lanzarote airport, Saerco, met this Wednesday in Madrid to unblock the strike situation.
In the meeting, USCA has proposed an arbitration for the elaboration of an award, a resolution issued by the arbitrator or arbitrators definitively resolving the controversy raised. On May 10, both parties will meet again and bring proposals for arbitration. Until then, the strike is called off.
The strike of Saerco's air traffic controllers to improve their working conditions has already exceeded 14 months and is one of the main reasons that have turned César Manrique into the most unpunctual airport in the country.
Saerco's workers demand an improvement in their working and salary conditions. SAERCO manages five of the eight control towers in the Archipelago, all except those of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
