The number of mortgages on homes registered in the property registries grew by 21.7% in April compared to the same month of 2023 in the Canary Islands, reaching 1,118, according to provisional data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The capital subscribed on account of these operations amounted, as a whole, to 130.756 million euros, according to INE figures.
The increase recorded in the archipelago was, in any case, lower than that which occurred, on average, in Spain, which reached 28%, up to 34,264 contracts signed, being the largest increase recorded in the country since January 2022, it highlights.
And it specifies that, throughout Spain, the sum of the capital lent by them amounted to 4,773,943 million euros.
In the country in general, the average amount of these mortgages increased by 1.5% compared to April last year and stood at 139,328 euros.
