The Canarian vice president was able to learn today about the different projects that the Arrecife City Council has underway to revitalize its Open Commercial Zone. In addition to the mayor, the councilors of Tourism and Commerce, and Mobility and Transport, Eli Merino, and Mario González Altube, respectively, were present at this visit.

The Arrecife City Council will allocate the 2 million euros for the integral transformation of Pérez Galdós street, from Vía Medular, to Cuatros Esquinas. A work, which according to what was announced, will be put out to tender this summer and has a total cost of 3.2 million euros, where the Consortium will assume the difference.

Along with this transformation, and as announced today by the mayor, Arrecife plans the modernization of León y Castillo street (Calle Real), creating an eco boulevard between Cuatros Esquinas and Velázquez street, at the height of where the City Council plans to create new sports facilities with an underground parking, in the plot attached to the Municipal Pool. The drafting of this project has already been awarded.

Yonathan de León pointed out "that the drafting of the specifications is underway to develop the project that contemplates the creation of a large urban park, with several floors of underground parking, in the Cabo Pedro area, a few steps from Calle Real. This building will be developed in a joint action of the Arrecife City Council, the Biosphere Reserve and the Lanzarote College of Architects".

And, finally, the mayor announced that León y Castillo street, which runs from Boca del Muelle to the Tinasoria neighborhood, "will have a Commercial Park in the vicinity of the Tenorio area, and planned in the Arrecife Supplementary Plan, which will be submitted to the plenary session soon. This commercial park, with green areas and parking, will boost commercial activity in the entire emerging area on León y Castillo street." The neighborhoods of Los Alonso and Altavista are located there, up to Tinasoria, whose urban transformation is currently underway with an investment of more than 3 million euros.

Finally, the mayor announced to journalists that the project for the second phase of Canalejas street is already "being drafted, where commercial modernization and the urban image will be intervened from the Agustín Espinosa Institute to Calle Real, through a green promenade through La Plazuela and the Plaza de El Almacén, a cultural center created by César Manrique 50 years ago".

The Arrecife City Council confirms, through requests for urban planning licenses and new commercial openings, the good future that Calle Real and the entire Open Commercial Zone have.
