The Deputy Minister of Economy and Internationalization and Vice President of Proexca, Gustavo González de Vega, met at the headquarters of ProColombia, in Bogotá, in a business day to present the Canary Islands as the strategic investment hub of the Atlantic, in which 72 companies have shown interest in the Canary Islands to address the European market.
The economic strategy of the internationalization of the Canary Islands involves opening up to new markets, with Latin America being particularly important, and specifically in this case, Colombia. Relations between both territories have expanded in recent years, responding to the demands of Colombian companies to establish themselves in the Canary Islands, as well as the development and promotion opportunities that this country offers to companies from the archipelago.
In this regard, Gustavo González de Vega gave a presentation focused especially on analyzing the competitive advantages of the Canary Islands and primarily focused on Proexca's program, Canarias LatamTech, which will have its third edition this year, aimed at local companies in the technology and audiovisual sectors interested in the European market.
During the presentation, two Colombian companies that participated in previous editions of Canarias LatamTech, Packsa and Tiempo de Cine, shared their vision and opinion on the opportunities that the Canary Islands present to the rest of the attendees.
The mission was completed with an agenda of meetings with the participating companies that showed real interest in establishing themselves in the Canary Islands, and with multilateral organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB - and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - CAF -.
“We are very satisfied with the success of this call, in which 72 companies are already interested in the Canary Islands. Furthermore, the importance of the meetings we have held with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - CAF - to continue exploring opportunities for knowledge transfer and export of our Canary Islands companies to Colombia and the rest of Latin America must be highlighted,” he pointed out.
