The Lanzarote delegation transferred to the World Travel Market 2021, headed by the president of the Cabildo, Ma Dolores Corujo, started today in London the first day of what is considered one of the three most important tourism fairs in the world, with prospects for the best connectivity in its history for this winter season 2021/2022, in global terms of routes, companies and connection cities.
The president of the Cabildo, Ma Dolores Corujo, highlights in this sense that “Lanzarote has started very strongly in this very important London event, as it marks the inflection of the desired tourist reactivation after the pandemic, which is key and essential for the economic and social recovery of the island in which we are putting all our efforts”
“We have programmed an intense agenda of 30 meetings, in order to cooperate with the main actors of the international tourism industry, especially from the United Kingdom, to promote tourism recovery and captivate Premium markets that are very sensitive to sustainability, attracted by the idiosyncrasy, unique in the world, that Lanzarote has.”
The president of the Cabildo, accompanied by the CEO of the CACT, Benjamín Perdomo, the SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote team led by its CEO, Héctor Fernández, and an institutional and business representation of the island, received this Monday at the Lanzarote stand, the Minister of Tourism of the Government of Spain, Reyes Maroto, and the Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government, Yaiza Castilla.
For his part, the island councilor for Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez, has not been able to attend the London fair due to force majeure reasons that at the last minute have made it impossible for him to travel to the British capital.
Notable recovery of Lanzarote.
The companies have programmed, between the months of November 2021 and April 2022, both included, a total of 1,415,648 air seats, which represents a 20.1% increase compared to the pre-pandemic winter season of 2019. This percentage increase is also almost double the average forecast for the Archipelago for the coming months,
figured at 11.90%.
The César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport will have a total of 555 weekly operations this winter, compared to 515 in the same season two years ago. There will be a total of 35 airlines operating with Lanzarote, which will keep the island connected by air directly with 86 airports in 19 countries.
