The opening of the low-cost Plenoil gas station last July in Arrecife with a price below 1.2 euros, led to a price drop throughout the island.

Thus, Lanzarote had the lowest prices in the archipelago for four months, between August of last year, when it marked 1.210 euros per liter, and November, when it cost 1.178 euros.

The drop was so large that the Government of the Canary Islands decided to leave Lanzarote out of the extension of the bonus to fuels to all non-capital islands, from which Fuerteventura benefited. El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma have already had it since last year.

However, both in the last month of 2024 and in the first of 2025, the average price of gasoline in Lanzarote has not been the lowest in the Canary Islands.

Although the average price in Lanzarote in December remained relatively low (1.184 euros), in Tenerife it was even lower (1.179 euros).

In January, the average price on the island of Lanzarote has risen to 1.216 euros, which has also been the second best price in the archipelago, although this time the best price was recorded in Gran Canaria (1.199 euros).
