Inflation in Spain in April has broken the upward trend of recent months, standing at 8.4% year-on-year, 1.4 points less than in March (9.8%), when the highest rate since May 1985 was reached, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
This moderation is mainly due to the decrease in electricity and fuel prices, thanks to the 20 cents subsidy, at the national level, although it should be noted that it remains at very high levels compared to previous months.

On the other hand, the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages has increased compared to April 2021, while the underlying inflation rate, which excludes energy and fresh food, rose one point in April to 4.4%, the highest since December 1995.
