The price of fuel in Lanzarote has been chaining increases in the value per liter for nine consecutive months. In August, gasoline 95 was ten cents more expensive than in the same month of 2019, before the pandemic, registering a value of 1.158 euros per liter. Gasoline 98 was established at 1.243 euros, nine cents more than the 2019 figure; and Diesel A was 1.076, six cents more expensive than two years ago.
Contrary to what is usually the case, Lanzarote came to have in 2020 one of the best fuel prices in the Canary Islands, even being the cheapest in the province in August, coinciding with the worst months of the pandemic. However, from December 2020, the data has been rising significantly, again having the most expensive in the province and one of the most expensive in the Canary Islands, only behind La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
In this way, even the values of 2019, prior to Covid-19, have already been exceeded. The first month of the year, for example, Gasoline 98 cost 1.047 euros per liter, while the month of August recorded the highest peak in recent years, reaching up to 1.243 euros.
Diesel from 2021 at gasoline price in 2019
In August 2019, diesel cost 1.011 euros per liter, being the cheapest fuel on the island. In 2020, with the arrival of the pandemic, it reached a minimum of 0.899 euros in November, thus lowering the barrier of ninety cents. However, and due to the increase in the price of oil, last August it reached 1.076 euros, exceeding the price of gasoline 95 in the same month of 2019.
The rise in oil is noticeable with a difference in the non-capital islands, as usual. In the province of Las Palmas, Fuerteventura, which has lower prices than Lanzarote, is also noticing excessive prices compared to previous years, having gasoline 95 at 1.116 euros, 98 at 1.217 and diesel at 1.021.
Those who have the most abusive fuel prices in the Canary Islands are, as usual, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. The latter, for example, is the place in the archipelago where it is more expensive to fill the vehicle's tank. In August, the island of El Meridiano reached a value of 1.361 in gasoline 95; 1.439 in gasoline 98 and 1.245 in diesel.
