In the last week of April, fuel prices once again reached their historical high in Lanzarote, with gasoline 95 at 1.503 euros per liter, gasoline 98 at 1.585 euros and diesel at 1.488, according to a report from the Ministry's Geoportal of Hydrocarbons collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.
Fuel prices have increased by an average of between 40% and 50% in year-on-year terms. Specifically, in the same week of 2021, both gasoline and diesel were around one euro, that is, refueling the tank cost 50 cents less per liter.
It should be noted that this exponential increase occurred progressively during the past year, but the big jump occurred in March 2022, rising about 20 cents practically at once.
This abrupt rise coincided with the entry into force of the 20 cents discount per liter of fuel promoted by the Government, so it did not represent a big change for consumers.
In addition, it is important to mention that this measure has a deadline of June 30, so from that day only consumers "who need it most" will continue to benefit, according to the Government.
The non-capital islands are the most expensive
With regard to the archipelago as a whole, El Hierro is, by far, the island with the highest prices, with gasoline 95 at 1.697, gasoline 98 at 1.775 and diesel at 1.692.
It is followed by La Gomera, with prices that mark 1.687, 1.768 and 1.679 euros per liter respectively. For its part, La Palma closes the podium with gasoline 95 at 1.542 euros per liter, gasoline 98 at 1.634 and diesel at 1.541 euros per liter.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura close the circle of non-capital islands with very similar prices. In Fuerteventura, gasoline 95 is at 1.5 euros per liter, gasoline 98 at 1.601 and diesel at 1.444 euros.
