Reservations to travel to the Canary Islands from the United Kingdom have increased by 5% and searches to spend a vacation on the islands have increased by 30% since the British Government announced that the archipelago has become part of the safe corridors, according to Destinia.
In this sense, the online travel agency has pointed out that the destinations most benefited from this announcement are Costa Adeje in Tenerife, Jandía in Fuerteventura and Playa Blanca in Lanzarote.
In addition, this Thursday Germany also announced that the Canary Islands was becoming a safe destination for its travelers, however the first data after the announcement do not show major changes from this country. According to Destinia, Germans continue to prioritize domestic destinations within their country in their travel searches.
The general manager of Destinia, Ricardo Fernández, has highlighted that this is "very good news" for the sector. "A lot of work is being done to offer safe destinations to regain the confidence of foreign countries and we believe that these small steps can help in the future. It is still early and we must be cautious, but it gives hope both for the destination and for the agencies and tour operators," he said.
