The Canary Islands Government, through the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture and with the initiative of the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) the regulatory bases for granting subsidies for actions of dissemination and diffusion of R&D&I in the Canary Islands, with the aim of bringing science and innovation closer to citizens in a clear, accessible, and inclusive manner.

These grants aim to promote scientific, technological, and innovative culture, foster scientific and technological vocations, and increase the visibility of the knowledge generated in the Canary Islands, bridging the gap between research and society.

What is being financed?

The grants will support face-to-face R&D&I outreach activities held in the Canary Islands, structured into three modalities. Modality A is aimed at national or international congresses, conceived as spaces for knowledge exchange, the presentation of scientific advances, and the connection between the research and professional fields.

Modality B comprises workshops, seminars, and conferences, with the participation of experts and a practical approach that fosters joint reflection, collaborative work, and the generation of new ideas and lines of knowledge.

For its part, Modality C is aimed at scientific outreach activities for the general public, with the objective of making scientific knowledge accessible and understandable, bringing it closer to citizens in a clear and attractive way.

To be eligible for these grants, the actions must have a person in charge linked to the applicant entity and have a program published on a website prior to the event's celebration

Who can apply for this aid?

Beneficiaries of these grants, provided they are domiciled in the Canary Islands, may include various entities linked to the fields of research, science, and innovation. These include public research organizations, public universities, public R&D&I centers dependent on or linked to the Canarian public administrations, as well as public health entities and institutions that carry out research activities.

Public Law corporations, such as professional associations or chambers of commerce, will also be able to access these grants. Likewise, the participation of their own media as associated members is contemplated, when they act in the name and on behalf of public universities or public health institutions.

Regarding the amount of aid, grants may reach **up to 100% of the eligible budget**, within maximum limits per application. In Modality A, intended for conferences, funding ranges from 3,000 to 10,000 euros for national conferences and from 6,000 to 15,000 euros for international conferences. Modality B, corresponding to workshops, seminars, and symposiums, includes amounts between 3,000 and 5,000 euros. For its part, Modality C, aimed at scientific outreach activities for the general public, allows for aid between 10,000 and 25,000 euros

The concession will be awarded through non-competitive bidding, meaning that aid will be processed in order of submission of complete applications and will be resolved until the credit for each call is exhausted. All processing will be electronic, paperless, through the application indicated in each call.

The bases have indefinite validity and allow for annual calls (or open calls) where the available credit and application period will be specified. In general, the actions must be executed within the corresponding budgetary year, and the justification will be submitted at the beginning of the following fiscal year.

These are funds of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, managed by the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), attached to the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture. The grants are part of the Department's Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024-2026 and are charged to Program 463B "Research and Innovation Human Capital" of the Canary Islands Budgets.
