33.6% of Lanzarote residents have economic difficulties to make ends meet, according to the results of the latest Canary Islands Socio-barometer. 28% consider that they make ends meet easily, while 31.9% declare that they make ends meet more or less.
Lanzarote is the second island in the Canary Islands where it is most difficult to make ends meet according to the Lanzarote residents surveyed, only behind Gran Canaria, where they are 33.8%.
Lanzarote is also the second island with the fewest respondents able to make ends meet easily. Only in La Palma are there fewer people who achieve it easily, they are 22.8%.
Main problems for Lanzarote households
In fact, the current economic crisis is the biggest concern for Lanzarote households, reaching a percentage of 28.2%. The highest in the Canary Islands.
Next, Lanzarote residents point to unemployment as the second main problem, with 26.8%.
The third most pressing problem for Lanzarote households is the situation of the health system, pointed out by 24.1% of respondents. The island is the most concerned in the entire archipelago about the deficiencies in healthcare.
The latest Canary Islands Socio-barometer also detects pessimism among residents in Lanzarote regarding the economic future of households. If currently almost 35% consider that their family economy is in good condition, only 18.9% believe that the economic situation of their households will be better within a year.
