The supermarket chain Spar in Lanzarote celebrates Canary Islands Day by giving children's workshops, which are held at the Eurospar in Altavista until May 26.
This is the second year that they have promoted this type of activity "the intention is to keep our traditions, our culture, our roots alive... and for this we must teach the little ones. To value what our grandparents achieved with so much effort and sacrifice... and what better way to preserve our legacy than through children."
A Canary week where the little ones will have a great time through play. A different workshop every day, from Monday to Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

- From May 15 to 31: JOLATEROS EXHIBITION.
Small tin boats whose tradition is rooted in the island of Lanzarote and that we can still see and enjoy thanks to Antonio Rodríguez, better known as "Toño."
- Monday 22: Create your woolen perenquén
The little ones will be able to learn a little about the Canarian fauna and know that we call the small lizards PERENQUEN. They will also have a great time spinning this fun animal.
- Tuesday 23: Design your own cactus
They will design small paper cacti and learn that these small plants, called succulents, store water inside and can therefore live in any habitat.
- Wednesday 24 Picture with legumes
We will explain which grains were grown on the island before and the importance of keeping our fields alive.
- Thursday 25 Create your own jolatero
- Friday 26 Design your own talega
In the past, these bags were used to transport grain, gofio... Today it is a perfect alternative to replace traditional plastic bags and therefore benefit the environment.
Learn about the history and how Spar Lanzarote was born
Spar Lanzarote is a 100% Lanzarote company, which has more than 60 years of history behind it. The company began selling the harvest from its own land in the "vuelta abajo", a road they traveled by donkey from Masdache to Playa Blanca. There they loaded up with fish that they sold on the way in the "vuelta arriba".
The entrepreneurial spirit that characterized Don Marcial González, founder of the company, led them to open their first little store located in the heart of Arrecife, on Canalejas street. It was a neighborhood store managed by the family. Thanks to the effort and family work, they made the company prosper and were able to expand their business.
More than 20 years ago they decided to join the SPAR and EUROSPAR commercial brands, coinciding in values such as the proximity, freshness and quality that they had already been working on.
Currently, Spar Lanzarote generates more than 600 jobs directly, is supplied by local distributors and suppliers, something very important and that undoubtedly generates many indirect jobs on the island.
