Educating children to be aware of the responsibilities that people have towards the environment is important. This is the objective of a new initiative by Ecoembes awareness, the organization for the care of the environment in charge of recycling household packaging in Spain. The project is called EducaEnEco and will take recycling to schools in Madrid, Castilla y León, Extremadura and the Canary Islands.
The objective is to get teachers, students and non-teaching staff of schools material so that they can use it in their classes or in other spaces with students and make them understand the importance of recycling. The entity promoting this initiative believes that these campaigns are fundamental since it is the smallest ones that will live with the environment longer. "Children and future generations are the ones who are going to find one world or another depending on how we do it here and now the adults," said Ecoembes CEO, Oscar Martín, a few days ago.
In a world where thousands of tons of garbage are generated every year, it is important to become aware of it and know what to do with all the waste. Knowing how to recycle is important and for this, this campaign aims not only to raise awareness about the importance of doing so, but also how to do it well. Do all children know where to deposit their waste? Do they know which container each container goes to and why is it important that they do so?
The entity also takes the opportunity to explain why the recycling system that is developed in Spain is the most convenient. In fact, the organization explains that other recycling systems developed are not as beneficial as that of Ecoembes. In some countries there are other methods that consist of charging extra money for each container that the citizen buys. In principle, it may seem that the extra money is charged to the company, but in reality it is charged to the end user, that is, to the citizens. According to Ecoembes, the system implemented in Spain is the best, as demonstrated by some of the figures, and changing it for another alternative could mean a loss of money for the citizen.
