The counselor of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, has reported this Wednesday in a press conference that the billing in these spaces grew 38% in the first three months of the year. In total, they have generated almost 12.4 million euros, compared to about nine million euros in the previous year.
Vázquez has announced that ticket office revenues rose 50.94%; those of restoration, 10.99%, and those of the stores, 7.14%.
In addition, he stressed, in this regard, that these figures have been reached after receiving 806,000 visitors, that is, 5% less than during the same months of 2023, when 849,010 people were received.
“These numbers reflect the success of a measure that will allow us to generate greater wealth for Lanzarote and, simultaneously, reduce the pressure on the work of César Manrique”, he added.
Las Montañas del Fuego, the most visited center historically, has generated 3,171,951.18 euros in ticket sales, 72.26% more, with 13,481 fewer visitors. Ticket office revenues also grew in Jameos del Agua (55.06%), Cueva de los Verdes (61.95%), Mirador del Río (57.33%) and the Jardín de Cactus (12.68%), “which shows the success of this extraordinary measure”, Vázquez defended.
Also, the commercialization of tickets through the web has also grown by 15%.
With respect to the management of visitor flows, Vázquez has shown his satisfaction with the result of the pilot experiences carried out in Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua, which will allow to activate as soon as possible the sale of tickets by time slots and end the waits at the entrances to the most visited centers.
In this sense, he pointed out that the withdrawal of the bonuses has contributed to significantly lighten the operation of the ticket vendors and, therefore, to reduce the formation of queues.
Regarding the canons, the counselor explained that “a total of 306,243.87 euros have been accrued to the municipalities of Yaiza, Haría and Tinajo, and 250,000 euros to the Cabildo de Lanzarote during the first quarter of 2024, which is 155.36% more than in 2023, which translates into greater wealth for the island of Lanzarote and its population”.
Other current affairs
Ángel Vázquez also reviewed other current affairs related to the Entity, starting with the “qualitative and quantitative” leap that restoration has experienced.
“Its revenues have grown by 10.99% during the first quarter of the year, which reflects the great response of residents and visitors to the winning gastronomic bet of the restaurant of the International Museum of Contemporary Art, MIAC - Castillo de San José, and the consolidation of the exclusive and exquisite offers of Montañas del Fuego, Jameos del Agua and Jardín de Cactus. With everything”, he assured, “we continue working to transform and improve our gastronomic experience”.
He also stopped to explain the contribution of the Tourist Centers to the well-being of the island society through actions and initiatives that respond to the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Entity. In this sense, he detailed that “the Tourist Centers have contributed 776,640 euros to events with social roots so far this year”.
Similarly, he said that the Tourist Centers have launched “a total of nine cultural events of different disciplines” during the first quarter of the year “that have obtained the majority support of the public, with special mention to the concert of Pancho Céspedes”, which brought together 410 people.
